The Woods Reserve team came up against Middlesex County League Division One (West) side LPOSSA at Sudbury Hill this afternoon, and in an evenly contested match both sides will take some positives away from this game.
The Woods’ first chance after five minutes came when Ed Hatcher intercepted a pass and he played in Jaephet Okirie who had only the keeper to beat, however his lob cleared the keeper and the crossbar. In the twelfth minute Dan Puzey fired in a shot that the LPOSSA keeper could only parry and Jamel Mattan was on hand to slot home from close range.
The LPOSSA equaliser came after twenty five minutes when Northwood lost possession 20 yards out and the centre forward's shot managed to deceive Garry Malone and found the top corner.
LPOSSA made it 2-1 to the home side when once again the Woods lost possession cheaply inside the LPOSSA half and they broke away and scored. Shortly after a free kick just outside the penalty area was fired in by George Holland and just like Northwood’s first goal, the keeper spilled the ball and Jahmal Ramsey tapped in for the equaliser.
Both sides had further chances to score but both goalkeepers stood firm and a draw was probably a fair result.
